My name is Beth and I would love to correspond with Gerald posted by Monty and Post Mary954 and anyone else who may be able to assist me. I live in Colorado. I am taking early childhood education classes and have chosen to do a paper on the difference between the Amish community and the general community in regards to child rearing/ early education from birth to 5 yrs. I have been caring for children mostly infants for nearly 40 years and have 2 adult boys of my own and would appreciate any guidance in this undertaking. Thank you.

I agree with Gerald. I am part of the Amish community and I believe in embracing my children's new plans in life as long as they are following God.

Hello,
My name is Gerald and my family is Amish. We are part of a modern Amish order. We live in California and my two children have recently entered Rumspringa. We believe scaring our children into faith by telling them that they will be shunned is wrong. We want our children to want to be part of the Amish community. That is why as a parent I stay positive with my children. I also believe in further education if I know my child isn't doing it for pride and money. This article is very true in what we must do to push them in the right direction.
