July

July 1 -- The Army Jazz Ambassadors will make a tour stop from 6:30-8 pm. in downtown Wooster for this free concert, which is presented by Main Street Wooster and is sponsored by Sprenger Retirement Centers and The Wooster

Glass Co. Attendees should bring their own chairs.

July 3 -- The Wayne Center for the Arts and Main Street Wooster combine to present Artfully Delicious, a tasting event featuring about 15 independent Wooster-area restaurants. The evening will also feature the visual and performing arts, as well as a children's activities area from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets available on site.

July 4 -- Old Fashioned Family Fourth will take place in downtown Millersburg from noon until 11 p.m. All activities will be held on the Court House lawn at the intersection of state Routes 83 and 39. Events include chicken barbecue, kid games, bike and stroller parade, re-enactments, local entertainment, watermelon seed spitting contest, pie eating contest, auction, beer garden, raffle drawing and fireworks.
-- The Ohio Light Opera Orchestra and Chorus will present its annual community concert on July 4 on Public Square in Wooster from 7-8 p.m. The free event is presented by Main Street Wooster and The Ohio Light Opera.
Attendees should bring their own chairs.

July 10-12 -- The 25th annual Great Mohican Indian Pow-Wow, presented by Mohican Reservation Campgrounds, will take place July 10-12.
Learn native culture and lifestyles through fellowship, competitions, native foods, music, storytelling, dance and drum competitions and more.
See more than 40 top artisans, craftsmen and traders.
Held rain or shine with free parking. Located seven miles south of Loudonville off state Route 3 on the Wally Road Scenic Byway.

July 23-25 -- Doughty Valley Steam Days, the annual antique farm machinery show, starts at 8 a.m. July 23 and continues through July 25 in Charm.
The event features steam tractors, prairie tractors and antique gas engines. Feature demonstrations include steam plowing, steam powered sawmill, steam powered shingle mill, and steam threshing. Evening events planned are steam tractor games, tug-of-war, draft horse pulling and spark shows.
Food will be available all day from the Charm View Parochial School. Admission is $4 per day or free with paid 2009 membership, which is $8. To obtain 2009 membership mail payment and your contact information to: Doughty Valley Steam Days PO Box 74 Charm OH 44617
Directions: Located near Guggisburg Cheese on state Route 557, four miles south of state Route 39, one mile north of Charm.

July 24-25 -- The annual Millersburg community sidewalk and garage sales will occur from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. All downtown stores will participate in sidewalk sales and the entire community will hold its annual garage sale event.

August

Aug. 8 -- Antiques in the Alley in downtown Millersburg offers 30-40 antique dealers in all the downtown alleys and sidewalks from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Choose from antique furniture, glass, garden accents, salvage antiques, primitives, folk art, art deco and everything in between. Sept. 12 -- Downtown Millersburg is the starting and ending point for the Holmes 100 Cycle Fest, a 100-mile, 60
mile and 25 mile bicycle tour. Enjoy afternoon activities as the cyclists
begin and end their journey. Food and
entertainment will be provided. Enjoy an adult and children's trike race. If you are interested in participating, please call 330-674-0444. Registration at 7 a.m. The 100-mile race starts at 8 a.m., the 60-mile race at 10 a.m., and the 25-mile races at noon.

Oct. 10-11 -- The 47th Holmes County Antique Festival takes place in Downtown Historic Millersburg, Ohio. This year the festival is dedicated to the 100 anniversary of Millersburg Glass. Enjoy two days of markets, arts and crafts, and demonstrations on the Square. Join us for the 5K race on Saturday at 9 a.m. near the courthouse. Enjoy the antique and classic car parade and show at 3:30 p.m. On Sunday, enjoy the Grand Parade at 2 p.m. Both days, walk through the historic village, enjoy the continuous entertainment and great food.

Tuesdays: Farmerstown Livestock Auction -- SR 557, Farmerstown, 330-897-6081; 12:30 p.m., including flea market items, baked good and in season produce.

Wednesdays: Mount Hope Livestock, Hay & Produce Auction -- CR 77, Mt. Hope, 330-674-6188, www.mthopeauction.com; 10/hay auction; 11/livestock auction, 11:30 a.m./produce sale; tack, machinery & exotic-animal sales, several times/yr.

Thursdays: Kidron Hay & Straw, and Livestock Auction -- Downtown Kidron, since 1923 (Ohio's oldest auction); 330-857-2641 or 1-800-589-9749; 9:15 a.m./hay and straw auction; 11/livestock; held every Thursday except Ascension Day (May 1) and Thanksgiving (Nov. 27), when they're held the next day.

Every third Wednesday: "Project Linus" Quilt Days -- Hearth Side Quilt Shoppe, 13110 Emerson Road, Kidron (behind Lehman's), 330-857-4004, www.HearthsideQuiltShoppe.com; 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; take a project, sewing machine and supplies, or work on one of the shop's; cutting, piecing, knotting and binding; come for a few hours or take your lunch and spend the day; free, but call to sign up.
