Maps & Directions
Driving in Amish Country can be at once a charming and precarious experience. Modern vehicles such as trucks, cars, SUVs, semis and vans share the road with slow-moving, horse drawn buggies and carts, wagons and farm machinery such as tractors. Many people, Amish and non-Amish, ride bicycles on the country roads. Added to this, the scenery all around you can be a tempting distraction. When driving in the area, pay close attention to what is going on around you. Be cautious when cresting hills -- especially at twilight. An Amish buggy may be just over the hill. Some Amish groups may not have any reflective material on their buggies. Many, however, will have the orange triangular "slow-moving" symbol. Be courteous and respectful when passing buggies. Pass with care, and leave plenty of room so the horse will not spook. Please, drive safely and enjoy your visit to Amish Country!
