Miller's Bakery: "De Good Ole Fashioned Bakin'"

Miller's Bakery was started in the basement of Sam and Barbara Miller's home. Since 1967, Miller's Bakery has been providing excellent homemade, hand-mixed baked goods.

They started out by making noodles and angel food cakes to be sold at Guggisberg Cheese.

In later years, they started selling baked goods out of their home.

In 1978, their daughter expanded the business to the current location and added quite a bit more items.

The most unique one, which she invented with the help of her brother by mixing batch after batch until they found the perfect combination, is the delightful cheese tarts.

Now, Jonas Miller, son of Sam and Barbara, along with his daughters and hired girls still use grandmas recipes keeping her homemade, hand-mixed tradition of excellent baked goods alive. In his nineties, Sam still helps out with the bulk food items.

Ada Miller, daughter and store manager of Jonas Miller, remarks that the business' best-selling item is the cheese tart.

"Early on in the morning our bakers start the dough," Ada said. "Everything is made fresh daily."

The main goal for Miller's Bakery is to make its customers happy. With the majority of the business' customer base being tourists, Ada believes it's important to provide them with the experience they're looking for when they travel to Amish country.

"We meet people from so many different places and they each have a lot of different interests," Ada said.

Miller's Bakery provides a large assortment of homemade goods, prepared daily, including breads, noodles, cookies, cheese tarts, fry pies, pastries, jams and jellies, bulk foods and chocolate candies.

Miller's Bakery is located at 4280 TR 356 in Millersburg. Business hours are Monday-Saturday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed Sunday). For more information call 330-893-3002.
