Where: Mt. Hope Auction Barn; 8076 SR 241, Mt. Hope

Amish and non-Amish bring their animals to market every Wednesday year round. Observers will see very old-fashioned carts and wagons and horses and buggies coming and going from the market. During fair weather flea market vendors sell their wares on the outside. A large building also provides shelter for flea market vendors and shoppers. Flea market opens at 7 a.m., Hay Auction and Produce Auction begin at 10 a.m., Livestock Sale begins at 11:30 a.m. and the Poultry Sale begins at 1 p.m. During the summer, small animals such as ducks, chickens, geese, turkeys, rabbits, etc. are sold.

Full Moon Walk: Moon of Ice

Walk under the light of the full moon. This year, we're exploring the Celtic names for full moons. Have you seen ice-covered branches lit by the moonlight? We may not be that lucky, but we will see ice on lake or pond. We'll meet in the parking lot, then go for a quiet walk to see and hear evening wonders. Readings from favorite nature writers will help us discover and enjoy the seasons. Dress for the weather. You may bring a flashlight, but try not to use it. Docent Enrichment: The Rock Cycle

Let's learn the basics about rocks. We are going to "show and tell" about sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks. Lynda will explain how they are different, where you can find them, and why. Mt. Hope Horse Auction

Held on the second Saturday of each month, the Mt. Hope horse auction consists of Belgians, Percherons, Haflinger, Spotted Drafts, Crossbreds, Standardbreds, Riding Horses and Ponies. On an average month, between 50-100 Drafts and 300-400 Standardbreds are sold followed by Crossbreds, Riding Horses and Ponies. Auctioneers are Dean Beachy & Atlee Shelter. Ken Miller Supply Oil, Gas, Car, Truck & Agricultural Museum

Great Backyard Bird Count

TWC Bird Club invites you to join us for the 15th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count! We need your help! Anyone can participate, from beginning bird watchers to experts. It takes as little as 15 minutes on count day. It's free, fun, and easy " and it helps the birds. Scientists and bird enthusiasts can learn a lot by knowing where the birds are. Bird populations are dynamic; they are constantly in flux. No single scientist or team of scientists could hope to document the complex distribution and movements of so many species in such a short time. We will meet in the Wildlife Observation Room at 9 a.m. to begin counting species as they come and go at the feeder stations. You can join us any time of the day (up until 3 p.m.) and stay and county as long as you like, 15 minutes " an hour " half of the day " or, if you're "hardcore," all day! Free.
