Let's hope the month of August is a little drier and sunnier as you all plan your wonderful getaways to Amish country. Take a bike ride on the Holmes County Trail this summer or take a walk down main street Berlin. There is something for everyone in Amish Country and so many upcoming events to check out.

In this edition of Amish Heartland, we have put together a couple pages of landmarks, events and attractions you do not want to miss out on this summer. See the world's largest Cuckoo Clock in all its glory in Sugarcreek and don't miss out on "Music on the Square" every Friday evening in downtown Berlin.

Stop in to Troyer's Home Pantry and satisfy your sweet tooth. Fresh pastries, cookies and pies are stocked onto the shelves daily. The locals love to stop in for a cup of coffee and pastry each morning and share easy conversations with the staff and travelers to Amish country.

Another great adventure for a bright sunny day could be a trip to Ravenna, Ohio. Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary is a place where abused and neglected farm animals are rescued and cared for. Annette Fisher and her team have big hearts and work to educate the public on proper animal care and handling. It really is an interesting operation and worth a visit.

Our book review this month has also been made into an Amish Country Musical, which will premiere August 22 in Sugarcreek. "Josiah for President" is an interesting look into what could happen if a plain man ran for United States President. Get ready to roll out of your chairs with laughter as Martha Bolten has put together another witty tale.

With so many things to do, how can one even begin to plan their Amish country getaway? It will take you more than a day to see it all - that is for sure. So check out our Just Visiting page and plan a couple nights stay in one of our fabulous inns featured in the Amish Heartland magazine!
