Checking in? Friendly smiles, a beautifully decorated entryway and a warm, oatmeal cookie welcome those who plan their stay with Berlin Hotel and Suites.

17,000 square feet of fitness facilities, an indoor salt water pool and the only hotel in the state of Ohio to have a private movie theater are just a few of the amenities that set Berlin Hotel and Suites apart from many other hotels in the area.

As the newly appointed general manager, Jessica Wile said she is most excited for all the changes in store for the hotel. "The hotel used to be the Amish Country Inn," she said. Since Jerry Anderson purchased the property seven years ago, the hotel has been completely remodeled and is expecting even more changes for the future.

Wile couldn't contain her excitement as she shared all the changes yet to come for the hotel. "We will officially become a resort after the first of the year," said Wile.

As Amish country enters into its biggest season for tourists, guests at Berlin Hotel and Suites can expect to spend a majority of their time exploring the grounds; either walking on the walking trails, feeding the fish in the small fish pond or enjoying a round or two on the putting greens.

Children will have hours of entertainment as they explore the little kids safety town. "I am very excited about this little town," said Wile. "There will be cobblestone sidewalks, a small movie theater (playing a few Disney movies throughout the day) a small grocery store, dance theater and little houses with painted, themed walls inside." Children can also rent tricycles to roll through the town.

Patio areas with tables and chairs sit overlooking the grounds and grills are scattered about for guests to use. Fire pits make the patio the perfect place to gather with friends and family in the evenings to share stories of their day in Amish country or just kick back and relax after a long day of shopping.

Guests don't have to worry about keeping up with their fitness routine while they're away from home for the week. The hotel offers 17,000 square feet of fitness facilities which include: a weight room, spinning room, aerobics room, racquet ball quart, an indoor salt water pool, sauna and steam room.

The 26 seat private movie theater plays three movies every night and makes the hotel of a kind. The hotel will also offer a small store that will sell food and novelty items for guests.

After a long day of taking in all that Amish country has to offer, it is time to retire for the night. All rooms are equipped with cable TVs, a small dining table and chair and complimentary wireless internet access. A deluxe room gives guests the option of a balcony or porch and suites give guests even more amenities such as Jacuzzi tubs, small desks and refrigerators. Suites are beautifully decorated with fire places and chandeliers as well as wood finishes on the ceilings and custom made hardwood furniture pieces.

Currently, the hotel has 68 rooms with 17 of those rooms being suites. Wile said they are in the process of renovating the neighboring building on the property (which used to be a restaurant) into 10 new rooms and a bridal suite.

Other changes, still in the early stages of development include a nail salon, barber shop and doctors office. "All these amenities will really pull us away from everyone else in Berlin," she said.

Wile was especially excited for the Christmas season. "We spend a day just decorating the place for Christmas and getting the place into the holiday spirit," said Wile. "We have life size reindeer and Santa's sleigh which sits on the wall above the front desk." The welcome area is also decorated head to toe in all things Christmas such as garland, icicles, lights and much more.

Berlin Hotel and Suites' main goal is to provide their guests with a peaceful and luxurious experience. Their friendly staff makes guests feel welcome from the moment they walk in the door.

Berlin Hotel and Suites is located one mile west of downtown Berlin at 5330 County Road 201. For more information on the hotel call 800-935-5218, visit www.berlinhotelandsuites.com or find them on Facebook.
