Old-Fashioned Custard Pie

*1/2 cup sugar
*1 tsp. vanilla
*2 cups milk
*1/8 tsp. salt
*1 unbaked pie shell
Combine all the ingredients except for the nutmeg and mix thoroughly for several minutes. Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie shell and sprinkle generously with nutmeg.
Bake at 450° for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° and bake another 30 minutes or until the center tests done.
