Christmas in Berlin: A Down Home Christmas Celebration

Published: November 1, 2010 10:52 AM

The Berlin Area Merchants invite you to join them November 26 the day after Thanksgiving as they celebrate with a Live Nativity Parade and Candlelighting ceremony.

The parade features Mary and Joseph, The Three Wiseman, Carolers in Horsedrawn Wagons, Angels, Shephards, and live animals, such as camels, sheep, goats, donkeys and horses all donated by Hershbergers Truck Patch and Bakery and The Farm at Walnut Creek. You may also encounter Frosty and The Gingerbread Man giving candy to children along the street.

"All the great local participation are really what makes this such a special event and of course the animals are a big hit , it is our desire to emphasize the true meaning of Christmas," said Ruth Schlabach owner of Village Gift Barn and Country Gatherings.

The parade begins at 5:45 p.m. and concludes at the stage at the center of town where the candlelighting ceremony is held and the Christmas Story is read.

As the strains of Silent Night ring loud and clear, The Berlin Area Merchants wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas! Berlin is nestled in the heart of Amish Country on Scenic State Rt 39.
