Walnut Creek Antique Mall opened in 1997. Leroy Raber was laid up from work at the time and was offered the position to manage it.

"I've been here ever since," Raber said.

The store receives its products from its 45 vendors. This accounts for the wide variety and diverse selection of products customers have to choose from.

"What we have depends on what our vendors bring in," Raber said. "Each one has their own unique interest."

Walnut Creek Antique Mall operates by the space they rent out to their vendors. These individuals then go out and see what they can find to sell.

"We have a waiting list," Raber said. "It's really great. It gives us a chance to be a little more selective with you we let in."

Operating on 11,000 square feet, the store is lined with countless products. Everything from jewelry to trinkets, kitchen appliances to mason jars, and books to tools. Walnut Creek Antique Mall literally has something for everyone.

Still with so many items to choose from, Raber really likes to keep the look of the store changing.

"My motto has always been "let's not run a museum, let's run a business,'" Raber said.

"We get a lot of locals, a lot of comments and a lot of repeat customers. It's nice to have something new for them."

Seated down a smaller road of Walnut Creek, directly below the town's water tower Raber admitted that in the first few years of the business his location was a bit of a problem."Now we're well-enough known that even tourists know where to find us," Raber said.

As for competition in the area Berlin is well-known for having its craft and antique stores.

"For me it's not really a competition," Raber said. "Together we keep people coming into the area and we have a very good relationship with each other."

As for the vendors who provide the antiques for Walnut Creek Antique Mall, Raber gives them credit for the reputation the business has withstood all of these years.

"Our prices are our competition," Raber said.

"The prices are mostly up to our vendors, but they're bringing in quality products and we're selling them at a quality price."

Regardless of your definition of "antique," you'll no doubt find that special antique, collectible and/or memorabilia you've been looking for at the Walnut Creek Antique Mall.

Leroy, his staff and consignors pride themselves in offering a very large variety of antiques.

"That's our draw," Leroy said. "Over the past couple years, our customers have really come seeking a variety of things, and we have something to suit nearly everyone's fancy."
