Raber's Bike Shop is home to top of the line bicycles for everyone in the family. Whether you're a serious road biker, triathlon racer or just enjoy the thrill of the wind blowing through your hair as you casually peddle and coast your way through the countryside, Raber's Bike is determined to provide you with a quality product.
Once you have been inside you find an astounding display of over 400 top of the line bikes and accessories. In fact, Raber's Bike Shop holds one of the largest selections of bicycles and accessories for bikes in Ohio and surrounding states and was ranked among the top 10 bike shops in the 2012 Beacon's Best Awards (a survey done by The Akron Beacon Journal.)
"Quality service and 100 percent satisfaction is more than just a statement to us," said Alvin Raber, owner. "We go to great lengths to make a customer happy." Their goal is to get each customer on the correct bike for their riding style.
In order to truly make the customers purchase worthwhile, Raber's Bike offers a free "fitting." A customers fitting includes adjustments to their bicycle to ensure the rider has maximum comfort when riding their bike.
Raber values his customers and offers them a handful of other perks to accommodate their purchase. Customers who purchase their bike from Raber's Bike enjoy a lifetime of minor adjustments free of charge, receive a free check-up within four months of their purchase and a 10 percent discount on accessories for a year after their purchase.
Raber's Bike carries brands such as Giant and is an exclusive Pro Dealer for the Giant brand bicycle. They also carry Specialized brand bicycles and are an exclusive S-Works dealer for the Specialized brand. Raber's Bike also carries Eddy Merckx and Pinarello brand bikes as well as Enve Wheels. These top brands attract many out of state customers. Raber stresses that while high end bikes are a huge draw for their business, bikes are available for pleasure and work related activities.
Raber's Bike Shop was started in 2006 with its current building being built in 2009.
"I was looking for something this community needed," said Raber.
He had a huge interest in the mechanical side of the business. Raber began working on bikes late in the evening and soon developed an interest in the sport of biking. It was shortly after that the shop began to take off.
Tucked among the winding hills of the Millersburg countryside, the bike shop can be easily overlooked. Raber feels there are some benefits to being located "away from it all." Rows of shops lining the streets of the hustle and bustle of the city are easy to stroll from one to another but are also more likely to just be "strolled" through. Raber feels that if customers are traveling out of the city to come to a specific shop they are more likely to be paying customers.
Atmosphere also plays a large role in the quality of service Rabers can provide. A small sitting area with magazines sits below a large window that over looks the Amish countryside. While your significant other is picking out his or her perfect bike you can sit and read while enjoying a free cup of coffee.
Following the Christmas holiday, Rabers will be holding their largest one day sale on Saturday, Dec. 29. Starting at midnight, the bike shop will open its doors till 4 a.m. Saturday morning and offer 25 percent off all regularly priced inventory. The shop will then close and reopen from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. that same day offering 20 percent off all regularly priced inventory.
"25 percent off is huge [for a $5,000 or $500 bike]," said Raber. "This is the time to buy." Even if it is the winter months, it will be worth it to save now for a quality bike customers will enjoy later. All other benefits and discounts are included with special sale pricing.
Raber expects this will be a very busy day for his bike shop and suggests that customers visit the store beforehand to pick out the best bike for them.
Raber's Bike Shop is located at 6515 State Route 241 in Millersburg. Hours of operation are Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday 8 a.m.-5:50 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information call 330-674-3186. Because Raber's Bike Shop is an Amish store, there is no website and the phone is not located within the building. Customers are asked to leave a voicemail if no one is available to take the call and a store member will return the call as soon as possible.
